Hello, firstly I would like to just say thank you for visiting my website. My name is Paul Haywood FGA DGA, the founder and owner of The Haywood Collection.
Ever since I can remember, I have always had a fascination with jewellery but it wasn't until I got a part time job working for a company that bought scrap gold in 2011 that I realised that jewellery was what I wanted to do with my life. Eighteen months later I started out on my own and for the first four years my main focus was gold jewellery and under the name Haywoods Jewellery and it grew from strength to strength.
In 2016 I decided to change the business name to Diamond Avenue and added a selection of fine Gemstone jewellery. While the two years under the Diamond Avenue name were a relative success, I felt that the name and product range did not reflect me or what I wanted from my business. That is why I decided in 2018 I decided to make a big change and begin working on making my dream business a reality.
Bringing back the Haywood name
The decision to change names in the summer of 2018 was not an easy one. After two years of trying to build an online jewellery retailer than unfortunately was no different to any of the numerous other websites out there. I decided that it was not the way I wanted my business to be.
I wanted to offer a more personal service and for potential clients to know that the Haywood name means that you are getting a piece of jewellery that I am personally proud to put my name to.
As a born and bred brummie, I am hugely proud of the history, heritage and prestige that surrounds Birmingham's world famous jewellery quarter and it has always been a magical place to me. That is why every piece that is part of the collection is made in the heart of the jewellery quarter by the best british craftsmen.
When it comes to the diamonds and gemstones used in the collection, I hand select all of the main stones that we use so that I know that they meet my exacting standards. I have always used the philosophy that I only select stones that I would be happy to receive and wear myself.
Since starting my jewellery journey, I have always been looking to gain as much knowledge as possible. That is why in 2015 I enrolled at the School of Jewellery on the Gem-A Gemmology course and in 2017 I achieved my Diploma in Gemmology. I followed this in 2018 with the Gem-A Diamond Diploma which I passed with distinction.
